Part B Permits

Southwest Environmental Limited can Apply on you behalf for any type of Part B Environmental Permit Nationwide. Unlike an Environmental Permit for Waste or Installations, a Part B Permit is generally made to the Local Authority rather than the Environment Agency.

Part B Permits cover a variety of Activities, such are where things are burnt or where chemicals are used. The most common example might be Dry Cleaners and Waste Oil Burners that are used in Garages.

As with any Environmental permit the aim to to assess the risk of the operation on those surrounding you. This includes receptors such as humans, water course, and wildlife.

Part B Permit Applications

An application will consist of filling out forms, which one would expect but also quantitative risk assessment and monitoring programs for some Activities.

You can read about an example by clicking the below link:

We can also carry out compliance checking for Local Authorities. This might including additional support frameworks to bring failing permits up to standard. Which is normally easily done if the correct support is given. Given support there is no reason why a potentially "dirty" activity can be carried out without creating any meaning full pollution or negative impacts.

There are a number of Process Guidance Notes that are available which generally give emissions limits. If these prove to be breached then it is sometimes the case that the Local Authority will accept an H1 Risk Assessment in place of the standard limits. The below notes are very helpful to anyone considering Part B Activity. And you should certainly read the relevant one, before buying any equipment. Emissions or sizes of the equipment will have to be considered if you want to stay with Part B Emmsions Requirements.
